to do this.)
You have just explored a culture that does not use machines
or advanced technology to do work or create art. There are some scholars
and teachers who refer to tribal cultures and those with little or no technology
(meaning they don't have machines) such as the Anasazi and Navajo as "primitive."
Here's how Webster's Dictionary defines it,
Given the definitions and the things you've studied in the previous section, do you think that these cultures and their art are "primitive" or do you propose a different label or name to describe their art?prim.i.tive adj [ME primitif, fr. Many of Assisi and Aquinas' ideas deal with using the human experience as a framework with which to understand God. Do you think this is a good or a bad idea? Explain why you think so. How do you feel about Aquinas's ideas? Do you feel that he proves the existence of God? Give reasons why you agree or disagree. How is Aquinas's text similar in ideas, organization, and or structure to Giotto's works? What are some of the similarities between Islam, Judaism and Christianity? How does the art each culture makes reflect these similarities? What innovations in the technology of Gothic architecture are the most significant to you? Support your answers with reasons why you think this is so.
